PINE RESIN In Hoodoo Folk Magic, Spell-Craft, and Occultism
PINE RESIN is the solidified sap of any species of Pine tree. It may be crushed and added to any aromatic incense to give a piney or woodsy scent, or it may be burned alone on charcoal as a spiritual incense, Although pine trees grow all over the world, the use of strong-smelling PINE RESIN as an incense specifically said to cleanse the home probably entered hoodoo through Native American practices. Dried Pine needles may also be added to the resin when burned in this way. In Mexico and Central America, PINE RESIN is sometimes used as a substitute for Copal Negro and Copal Oro resin incenses, or to blend with them for use in rites of purification. Blended with Camphor for burning, PINE RESIN is said to remove evil spirits.
